Look at that face! She didn't buy the hat, but someone else did later. I can never make enough owl beanies. My crochet time has turned into cookie decorating time.
Had a great time at the Strawberry Festival, despite the fact that the park was being renovated and the craft vendor section was a logistical nightmare for shoppers. So sales were down for everyone, but the weather was lovely, and I met some nice people.
The highlight of the festival was meeting this sweet family. The mom came into my booth and went right to an outfit and inquired about it. I looked into her eyes and instantly recognized her. Turns out she was one of my orchestra students some 20 years ago when I taught Jr. High music. AND she married a boy she met in my orchestra class! They were both awesome kids, whom I remember well. I had no idea what became of them. They have a little girl now, and drove two hours to the Strawberry Festival. She could've totally walked by my booth without stopping. I have a few former students as customers now. It's so weird! Thank you for hanging out with me Maria, Erik and baby girl!
This little lady's grandma bought her this outfit, which she promptly changed into.
I could not have gotten through the weekend with out my friend Tonya. She's strong, tireless, and really good at finding restaurants for us. We went to Ruby's, a fabulous Mexican cafe, with the best mariachi music I've heard in a long time. Pretty good margaritas too! Tonya scored us a coupon at restaurant.com. We had a total food fest, for a great price.
It was nice having a little dog free, weekend getaway, even if I was working. My next big show is local. Mark your calendars for the Palos Verdes Street Fair, June 11th and 12th. In the mean time, I'll be working on more cookie orders, and crocheting owl hats!
