It's time to shop UNIQUE!

I'll be setting up my booth today for my final show of the season! Unique LA is always fun for me. Sonja Rasula, the creator of Unique, does and incredible job curating a diverse and large collection of amazing vendors! If you're in LA this weekend don't miss it!

I'll have my full array of handmade goodness for babies through ladies, boys and girls, including these vintage tablecloth skirts, sizes 2T through 8.

Starting next week, I'll have my home studio boutique set up and open for shopping through Christmas. I'll also have an Etsy update. Mostly I'll be decorating mountains of cookies! If you haven't ordered yours, FREE shipping on holiday cookie pre orders ends Saturday, December 1st!

Thought I'd drop in for a minute in between mountains of Halloween cookie orders, to share a couple of things I've been working on.  Fall has finally come to So. Cal. and all is well. 

In progress this week

It makes perfect sense that during one of my busiest weeks EVER the whole family would come down with our annual nasty cold. And of course, I got it the worst. Thanks to Nyquil and Dayquil, and coffee, I've managed to keep going. 

The Eiffel Tower cookies (400 of them!) are progressing. Owl and monster stuffies are coming to life. I have a saxophone concert to prepare for on Wednesday, and the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair to ready for next weekend. I'm planning to collapse around October 8th. But then it's Halloween cookie time! Fall is definitely here, and it's always the craziest, most fun time of year for me. Thanks for checking in! Time to get back to the cookies!

Unless I can magically build up a monster inventory, your buddy will be made to order, as I sold out of them at the Fiesta Hermosa street fair.

Since many of you haven't had the opportunity to visit me at a show, I thought I'd take you on a little tour of my booth. Check out the burly dude checking out my Play hoodies. After 10 years of street fairs, I think I've figured out a few things about setting up my space. But it's always a challenge; there's never enough room!

Carlsbad here we come!

My new friends and I are getting packed up for "Art in the Village" in Carlsbad, tomorrow, Sunday, August 12th, 9 to 5. Carlsbad is a very charming and friendly coastal town, and this is a great show, with very high quality vendors.

I've been wanting to make something different for kids, that didn't involve multiple sizes. Sizes make me CRAZY! I can have a ton of inventory, but may not have the exact size someone MUST have. Of course I can always do special orders, that is if I still have the fabric left. Sheesh. 

I have yet to come up with a name for my new monster friends here. Any suggestions? I'm worried that they might be a little scary for some wee folk. Especially since they may appear to be eating their young. I assure you, they are not. They're just keeping them safe in their big ol' mouths. If you'd like to adopt one of these cute (and friendly!) monsters, stop by the fair tomorrow. I may be putting them up in my etsy shop next week as well. Stay tuned!

Mile high adventures

The big reason for my trip to the real west, was the concert I got to play with the Pittsburgh Collective. I didn't get any good action shots (too busy playing my saxophone), so here's the gig poster. That's me with the long blonde hair from an earlier show we did. 

As always, it was an intense musical experience. Wish we could play together more often. Our leader and composer, David Sanford is truly gifted and the best to work with. 

A whole slew of my "people" came to the show, including my mom and dad (above). It was a wonderful evening. Denver is a great city to visit, so during our spare time, mom and I got to visit some shops and eat a lot of good food. 

Christine Haynes turned me onto this amazing craft store. Fancy Tiger Crafts is a gorgeous boutique in an up and coming section of Denver. 

It's so spacious, beautifully merchandised, and holds a great selection of craft supplies.

Is this awesome or what? Me thinks this marvelous pink antlered creature would look lovely in my living room.

ETSY summer sale!

I thought I'd share a bit of what was happening in my studio this week. I didn't clean up, I just thought I'd keep it real. This is NOT Martha's craft room. It is actually quite organized, but I'm always so busy working, that, well, what can I say. . .

Cheryl snapped some photos, while Paloma and I worked away. Since Paloma is way cuter that me, I insisted that she put HER in the photo collage.

I LOVE my workspace! That's me, in the back at the sewing machine. We are trying desperately to get a loan modification so we can actually afford to keep our house. I know we are in the same shape as so many people out there. There is hope, and it seems things are going in the right direction. 

My main project this week was sewing up some burp cloth sets. Each one includes two coordinating burp cloths, an appliqued onesie, and a baby spoon. Great new baby gift!

There you have it. I won't see much of my sewing machine this week, as I have a big cookie order to tackle. It's for a Jamaican themed bar mitzvah! How cool is that!
