Summer's Bounty

It has been a great summer for my garden, and my favorite food in the world? Garden fresh tomatoes! Followed closely by fresh picked corn. Thankfully, my dear neighbor Stephanie has taken on much of the garden chores. She doesn't have a garden spot in her yard, so we decided to have a little garden coop! It's been HOT, unusually hot here lately, so we've needed a little extra refreshment. My beverage of choice? Cucumber Mojitos! We have a crazy wild bush of mint in the garden, and I finally found a good use for it. Now I just need a lime tree--that's a plan for phase two of the garden restoration (in my dreams). Those are the cookie highlights. August isn't a big cookie month, so I've been been working on the other half of my biz, which is pretty slow in the summer too. It's nice to be able to take it easier for a bit, build up the inventory, design some new goods.

It's been unseasonably hot here in So. Cal, which means attendance at the Carlsbad Art in the Village fair was way down. Too hot to shop; everyone must have gone to the beach! Things will get busy soon and I'll miss the lazy days of summer. Emmet's first day back to school is tomorrow. NOT looking forward to getting up early and dealing with homework issues, but it is good to start fresh. I've always loved going back to school, whether attending or teaching. Can't say Emmet feels the same. Ok. I'm through rambling. . . the heat is getting to me.

Carlsbad here we come!

My new friends and I are getting packed up for "Art in the Village" in Carlsbad, tomorrow, Sunday, August 12th, 9 to 5. Carlsbad is a very charming and friendly coastal town, and this is a great show, with very high quality vendors.

I've been wanting to make something different for kids, that didn't involve multiple sizes. Sizes make me CRAZY! I can have a ton of inventory, but may not have the exact size someone MUST have. Of course I can always do special orders, that is if I still have the fabric left. Sheesh. 

I have yet to come up with a name for my new monster friends here. Any suggestions? I'm worried that they might be a little scary for some wee folk. Especially since they may appear to be eating their young. I assure you, they are not. They're just keeping them safe in their big ol' mouths. If you'd like to adopt one of these cute (and friendly!) monsters, stop by the fair tomorrow. I may be putting them up in my etsy shop next week as well. Stay tuned!
