Birthday cookies galore!

It started with a princess birthday party. . .

I always enjoy the "girlie" jobs, since I never had the chance to throw a princess party for my only boy.

If the princess kissed a frog, it might look like this: 

These were for a client who's friend was having a big 2 day birthday celebration at Disneyland, which happens to be my plan for my 50th--I'm planning WAAAAY ahead.

It seems the friend has a thing for frogs. Works for me!

And yet another really fun order:

Originally this lady wanted Tiffany inspired cookies; gift box etc. But THEN her boyfriend gifted her with fabulous Louboutin shoes, so she went a different direction.

I LOVE these! She had a rockin' birthday party and served these instead of cake.

Cupid is coming!

I know, I know. . . Santa just settled in for a long winter's nap, but it's not too early to start planning for Valentine's day. If you're me, anyway. So here's a little preview of what I've been working on.

This is one of my favorite cookie collections yet. My webmaster (aka hubby) is hard at work getting the cookie webstore all stocked with Valentine goodness. Stay tuned for details!

After a quiet start to the year, cookie orders are coming in and I'm getting ready for some trunk shows. As usual, I'm not sure which direction to go on any given day. Deadlines do help keep me on track.

I sent out this cookie gram yesterday, and I have crown cookie favors to make for a princess birthday party this weekend. Lots of girlie fun! Bring it.

 

 

 

 

 

The party's over.

His grandparents went home. We had such a wonderful time, prolonging the holiday season, enjoying the beautiful weather. My dad and I went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market and found a lot of beautiful vintage linens. He's now an expert shopper. Mom and I had a lovely ladies day, having our nails done, shopping, dining. We took walks by the beach with the dog, and relaxed by the light of the Christmas tree. I became obsessed once again with crocheting. I made several new kid hats, which I'll share soon.  We also had a delicious holiday dinner.

Besides the yummy prime rib, glazed carrots, twice baked potatoes and salad, I made the most decadent Chocolate Pot de Creme . . .

added some whipped cream. . .

and somehow deleted the photo of the finished product. 

A little sparkling wine, and the evening was complete. 

We've now packed up all the decorations, Emmet went back to school, and I'm trying to get back into work mode. I'm usually too anxious to really enjoy time off, but this time was different. I could get used to not working, if that was an option. Fortunately, I do love my work, so I'm trying to make it happen.

Nappy Yew Hare!

My parents have been visiting from Wyoming for the past week. We've been having a wonderful time in the awesome 75 degree weather, walking by the beach, cooking, eating and relaxing. But I did have one cookie order to fill.

I love doing letter cookies with lots of different designs. These cookies were for one of my best customers to send to her clients as thank you gifts.

I figured my parents needed something to do, so I put my dad to work writing a poem to go with the cookies. He happens to be a well known (in some parts) and talented cowboy poet.

The poem goes like this. . .

This gift today 
Is here to say,
"NAPPY YEW HARE!"
That's not right,
What a sight!
"YAPPY HEN WEAR?"
How very strange;
Try one more change.
"NAY WEEPY HARP?"
At last, no fear,
The meaning's clear:
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" 

We put the letters all mixed up in the boxes, with the poem on top. My mom helped with the packaging and bow tying. So much for being on vacation!
